GET READY FOR 5G

Verizon on Tuesday announced that it was accelerating its efforts to boost wireless connections to 50 times faster than current offerings.

The company has begun putting the components in place to enable it to begin field testing a new, speedier wireless technology, known as "5G," next year.

"5G is no longer a dream of the distant future," said Roger Gurnani, chief information and technology architect for Verizon. "We feel a tremendous sense of urgency to push forward on 5G and mobilize the ecosystem by collaborating with industry leaders and developers to usher in a new generation of innovation."

Verizon and its partners -- Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Ericsson, Nokia, Qualcomm and Samsung -- last month kicked off a 5G forum and began forming teams to accelerate development of the next-generation mobile technology.

The 5G Technology Forum includes a group of venture capitalists focused on a variety of emerging technologies.

Verizon's move to accelerate 5G development in the United States will keep the nation competitive in the global communication market, said Rima Qureshi, chief strategy officer for Ericsson.

"A lot of development and requirements for 5G networks have so far come from Asian operators," she said. "It's exciting to see a U.S. company accelerate the rate of innovation and introduce new partners."

The dislike button is here

During a town hall question and answer meeting Tuesday, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the dislike button will soon be in testing, despite denying for years that such a button was in the works.

"People have asked about the 'dislike' button for many years, and probably hundreds of people have asked about this, and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it," he said in a livestream.

Zuckerberg once said that he's hesitant to add a dislike button because it promotes negativity.

"Some people have asked for a dislike button because they want to say, 'that thing isn't good.' And that's not something that we think is good for the world," he said in December 2014 in another town hall session, when rumours had once again spiked that the company was working on a dislike button.

11 new features in IOS 9

1. Low Power Mode

A huge and much-needed addition to the iOS universe, was a way to save battery life on devices running low on juice. Previously, iOS 8 added the option to view how much a particular application was consuming battery. But now, when you go to Settings -> Usage -> Battery, you’ll not only see battery consumption metrics, but also Low Power Mode, which temporarily disables features, giving you up to three hours of extra battery life.

2. Back to App

In an effort to improve app switching and multitasking, iOS 9 provides a super convenient way to move between multiple applications. For example, opening a link sent via Messages will take you to the URL, but instead of double-tapping to bring up the app-switcher, there will be an option to go Back to Messages in the top left corner.

3. iCloud Drive App

Simply put, iCloud Drive is a well-integrated, cloud-based file manager. Previously the only way to access iCloud drive was through third-party applications. Presently, iCloud Drive welcomes its very own application in iOS 9 that can be accessed at any time to view, download, or share stored files.

4. Group Notifications

“Organization is key to a successful life.” I may have just made that quote up, but there is definitely some truth to that. Instead of viewing all your notifications in a purely sequential list, you can now group notifications by app by going to Settings -> Notifications and enabled Group by App. So, instead of searching for your most recent CNN updates within a giant unorganized list, your notifications will be grouped according to the app it relates to.

5. Use Flash With Videos

When shooting videos now  you can use the flash for better low light shooting.

6.Enable or disable Upper and Lower case keys

iOS 9 - Settings - Lowercase keys
The iOS 9 keyboard makes it much easier to determine whether the characters are uppercase or lowercase. The keyboard now displays upper case letters on the keys when the Shift key is enabled and lower case when disabled.

7. Hide Photos

Stop those pesky in-laws from seeing all of your photos when they borrow your phone. iOS 9 makes it easy to hide certain photos from unwanted viewers. Simply select the photos you wish to hide, tap the Share icon, and select Hide from the Share sheet.

8. 6-digit Passcode

To beef up your iDevice’s security, iOS 9 defaults to a 6-digit passcode. Improving from the previous 4-digit passcode, the new six-digit passcode increases the amount of combinations from 10,000 to 1 million.

9. Quick Reply in your favorite Messaging apps

You will be able to use Quick Reply in your favorite Messaging apps like WhatsApp.
The Quick Reply feature can be paired with other actions as well.
So you will be able to swipe down on a notification from your favorite Messaging
app and respond to it just like you could in the Messages app

10. Search Bar in Settings

Don’t spend any more time scrolling up and down Settings to find the option you are looking for. iOS 9 has built a search function directly into the Settings app, making it much quicker to find exactly what you’re looking for.

11.Shake to undo

Shake to Undo is a feature that used to be enabled no matter the user preference. Shaking your iPhone on accident or on purpose would bring up the option to undo recent text inputs. In iOS 9 users have the option disable Shake to Undo. In Settings -> General -> Accessibility find Shake to Undo and slide to toggle OFF.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus at an event in Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco on Wednesday that is SEP 9,2015.

Thanks to the numerous leaks that have been reported in the past few months, we have a very good idea as to what to expect from the new iPhone handset.
Here's everything we know about the iPhone 6s so far-

Force Touch is coming

The iPhone 6s (as well as the iPhone 6s Plus) is expected to come with Force Touch, a feature Apple introduced in the MacBook that acknowledges a different level of force exerted on a touchpad and responds accordingly. The company is expected to utilise this feature by providing users with quick options and shortcuts to access different apps and services.

3D Touch Display

A new report now suggests that the iPhone 6s will also come equipped with a "3D Touch Display." As per 9to5Mac, in addition to the taps and presses, the iPhone 6s will be able to understand deep presses -- hence the "3D" moniker - bringing it to a total of three levels pressure - tap, press, and deep press.

Screen sizes will be 4.5in and 5.5in

This statement is obvious, as the iPhone 6S won't make any big design changes from the 6, which means the screen
sizes are fixed.

There will be an additional rose gold colour

Apparently, this is to match the Apple Watch.
As to whether or not it's a replacement or an addition to the existing gold model we don't know,
but we can see Apple wanting to match colors across its mobile range

The camera will be upgraded to 12-megapixels

Multiple reports suggest that the iPhone 6s will come with a massive camera improvement. The new iPhone is expected to come with a 12-megapixel iSight (rear-camera) sensor. The camera is said to support video shooting in 4K resolution. On the front side, it is expected that the iPhone 6 will come with a 5-megapixel sensor (FaceTime), with at least 720p HD video recording.

IMPROVED RESOLUTION

While not exactly high resolution by today's standards,
this rumour at least fits in with what Apple's been doing in recent years: balancing noise and
image quality, against resolution; a jump to 12-megapixels should keep noise down while improving
 resolution
The iPhone 6s may come with impressively high pixel density resolution. Popular China-based tipster KJuma claimed that the new 4.7-inch iPhone 6s will have a screen resolution of 1125 x 2000, pushing the resolution to 488ppi. He further noted that the iPhone 6s Plus will carry a 1242 x 2208 resolution, resulting in a 460ppi pixel density.

NO MORE BENDING

The iPhone 6s is expected to be stronger, and sturdier. According to a report, Apple is using a different alloy combination in the iPhone 6s, which is said to offer a stronger base for the volume keys and power button, the alleged weak points in iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

HARDWARE CHANGES

As for the hardware specifications, the iPhone 6s is expected to be powered by the Apple A9 SoC, and some reports suggest the new iPhone models may sport at least 2GB of RAM.
